LaGG-3 Shot Down 1941

TOCH members,

I have a small component data plate purportedly removed (a number of years ago) from the crash site of a LaGG-3 aircraft serving with the 523rd Fighter Regiment. The plane was said to have been shot down on 16.10.41 in the area of Byelaya/Leningrad.

Does this information fit any known history, and can further details of the event be provided?

Thank you,
Steve
