Hans Karl Kamp

Hello !

Hans Karl Kamp, the nightfighter, claimed three Lancaster on the night of 7/8 May 1944.(Target Salbris ammunition dump)
But it seems that his aircraft was hit in the fight, and that he made a landing
following the damage somewhere in France ...
Does someone have more details on this part of his story ??

Thank you for your help !

Alain

Re: Hans Karl Kamp

Looking in the Michael Balss book Deutsche Nachtjagd - Personalverluste in Ausbildung und Einsatz - fliegende Personal, I see no reference to Kamp being mentioned in the period 25.04.44 to 25.05.44.

Perhaps the Theo Boiten book Nachtjagd War Diaries could shed some light on this. I do not have a copy.

Good Luck

Re: Hans Karl Kamp

Given that this was 1944, if none of the crew was injured, there wouldn't necessarily be any record of the machine being damaged in any of the 'normal' Lw records - the Gen. Qu., because the 44 stuff is missing, or WASt casualty stuff. Like Doug said, there may be a mention in Boiten's book.
