MIA 6 April, 1945 delivering a new He 162 to Lechfeld. One known victory, a Mosquito at Thulendorf on 27 October, 1944. A 2nd, a B-24 at Rostock on 21 November, 1944. Units - EKdo Lärz (10/44), He 162 Ferry Unit (4/45), I/JG-1. Anyone have more? can anyone identify the He-162 Werk No. |
Re: Fw. Wolfgang Seeling- EKdo Lärz- B-24 victory
His second claim for a B-24 on Nov 21,1944 has been verified. The B-24 in question was B-24H-15, sn 41-28925, MACR 10407, 448th BG, 714 BS 41-28925B24H-15-DT104078448714
From Footnote: " On November 21,1944 we bombed Hamburg, going over the target number one and two engines were damaged by flak. Lt Bowers, pilot consulted with crew and decided to go to Sweden. Approximately over the Virgin Islands a Me 262 hit us and the ship was set on fire and exploded. I was blown clear and after several minutes pulled my ripcord and my parachute opened. I landed on the Virgin Islands. I saw no other chutes open and saw none of the crew after that. Next day [a] German Medical officer said five bodies had been found in the ship, he did not say who they were. That is all the information I can give" Sergeant Dennis [Tail Gunner] |
