You site is more interesting every day.

Some add-ons for the attack on convoy "Untrue".

The Carlier was not French but Belgian. You can find more details about the Carlier, Birchbank and Indian Prince on this page: http://www.convoyweb.org.uk/oskms/index.html (choose OS 57/KMS 31).

Nivose is not listed on this site, as it probably joined the convoy in North Africa rather than in UK.

The book "Pilotes français sur l'Afrique du Nord et la Corse" has the following about the attack (translation is mine):

"A convoy of about 60 ships sailing from Casablanca to Algiers was attacked at dusk by 56 bombers (16 Do217, 17 Ju88 and 23 He111 coming from southern France, Istres and Salon-Montpellier) NW of Oran.
Despite the protection of Allied nightfighters, 3 ships (Birchbank, Indian Prince and Carlier) were sunk. A fourth one, the French tanker Nivose, was hit by a torpedo and sank due to a collision after the attack. Her crew was saved.
Seven German bombers were lost.
The sound of the battle was heard at the nearby Lapasset airfield, base of the GC 3/6 Roussilon but nothing was seen in the dark and none of its aircraft was engaged."

As for the attack on the convoy Annex, the same book gives the combat reports of all 12 pilots of the French GC I/7 involved.
A minor typo correction: the Beaufighters were from 153 Sqn, not 135 Sqn.

Quote:

The Gruppe flew an early morning "direct escort" for SG 4 to Cassino on 18 March, Lemke claiming a Spitfire and Uffz. Biehalowek another.
Another typo - should be Bielohlawek - Whitehead. ;)
