According to the MACR 12637, "south of Zwickan, Germany."

Check http://www.footnote.com/search.php?query=44-14773 for more details.

Zwickan may be a typo for Zwickau.

Yes it was Zwickau ; PTW escort to B-17s in central Germany. The 359th lost 3 more pilots this day; Lt. Meyer( 369th) crashed while strafing in Germany, Lt. McGregor (370th) killed in accident in Norfolk, Capt. Lyon ( 370th) lost with Paulette near Zwickau.
