Werner Molders Bf109 in Spain

Greetings all,

no matter that caption state that this is E model, it look like previous model. Any info about the register number on fuselage and rudder color?

Cheers :)

The two-bladed prop kinda gives that one away as not being an E. As to the identification, that photo is one that has always interested me as well - and I don't have the answer.

If it's Molder's ( note victory bars on rudder) it would be Me.109D "6-79" with the name "LUCHS" ( lynx) on right cowling; his 3.Staffel had the famous Mickey Mouse insignia . He left Spain before they got E-models.
Michael Payne reckoned (probably) the Cs were numbered 46-50, the Ds from 51-86 and Es from 87 to around 136.I don't know whether that was ever confirmed though.
I think the dark rudder is just shadow (note the angle).

Thank for info Nick. It is very possible that it is shadow on rudder but image is crop and this can not be clearly seen and it is too much dark. But I agree that very possibly it have very standard camouflage color.
