J.Porter,no1 squadron BEF, 242, 615, 256
Now that my father has passed away I am trying to research his history with these squadrons especially with no1 squadron, if anyone can aim me at a site where i can get photographs or any help in researching his history would be much appreciated. I have his logbooks except no2 which was destroyed at kenley when it was bombed when he was with 615 squadron, I also have his service record . what I find amazing is that he amassed over 5,000 hrs during the war.
My father always wanted to write a book called a flt. seargents war because he felt they saw the lions share of the action but it was their officers that took the credit. I know he certainly felt sufficiently badly about sitting in trenches being bombed at various airfields throughout france with the bef (whilst the officers made meery in a chateau several miles away) that when he returned home from chateaudun he applied for a commision I look forward to hearing from anyone |

Hello,
Nothing in regard to your father, but do you have had a W/C Ted Porter DFC in your family ? He was with 97 Squadron. Thank you, Alain. |

Hi, sadly no, I know our side of the Porters back to 1850,s he must be from another branch, we herald from the liverpool area .
I now live in the south of france which makes this task more difficult. |
