Hi everyone,

by co-incidence, is anybody having details of his birth and career or even his photo?

I am aware of his two claims in 1943 and details of his mortal fight on March 8, 1944.

Even small bits would be helpful.

A search of our files reveals the following:

SACHSENBERG, Heinz (“Heino” and “Wimmersal”).
(DOB: 12.07.22 in Dessau).
c.11.42 Feldwebel, assigned to 6./JG 52 on completion of training.
(n.d.) 11.10.43 Fw., awarded the Ehrenpokal.
17.10.43 Fw., awarded DKG, 6./JG 52.
23.08.44 severely WIA.
09.06.44 Fahnenjunker Fw., awarded Ritterkreuz, 6./JG 52.
04.45 Lt., in JV 44 - set up and led the Papagei Staffel.
Credited with c.520 combat missions and 104 air victories.
†17.06.51 in Lich of complications from his wartime wounds.

A Yak-1 E of Kubardinka on 25 May, 1943. An Il-2 on 26 May, 1943. An Il-5 on 27 May, 1943. Two Il-5's on 29 May, 1943. Three Yak-1's and an Il-5 on 26 July, 1943. Four victories on 4 August, 1943. Two Yak-7's on 17 March, 1944. His 103rd victory, a P-51 over Hungary on 3 March, 1945. His 104th and last victory, a P-39 on 16 April, 1945. One victory in the West. One Motor Torpedo Boat destroyed. He was the cousin of Pour le Merite fighter pilot Gotthard Sachsenberg, and the brother of Gotthard Sachsenberg, a Night Fighter pilot, KIA April, 1944. Heinz was seriously wounded in combat on 23 August, 1944 in the "Yellow 1" in aerial combat with P-51's over Romania, and died of his wounds (complications) years later, 17 June, 1951. The 190D was used to protect the Me 262 from prowling American fighters. His D-9 may have been Werk # 600424 (or 800424), and bore the inscription "Sell my clothes, I'm going to heaven".

Oops! We have nothing about Gotthard but Kracker has some data:

Sachsenberg, Gotthard G.F.W. - Lt. Dessau. 2 known victories. - 5./NJG-3Bf 110EK 1 & 2, Wound Badge, Night Fighter Operational Clasp, KIA April 1944. One known victory, a Lancaster W of St. Peter Ording on 25 July, 1943. A 2nd, a Halifax at Todesfeld on 30 July, 1943. Brother of Heinz

His claim of July 25 could be 103 Sq Lancaster "PM-V", Pilot W/O Felix F. O`Hanlon. All on board were lost.

The recently published Die personellen Verluste der deutschen Nachtjagdgeschwader 1940-1945, by Veit Scherzer lists Gotthard Sachsenberg as born in Berlin on Dec 14, 1919, died in Volkenroda on March 8, 1944, flying Ju-88C-6 750895. The book is organized by Geschwader, Gruppe, Staffel, and then alphabetic by casualty; I could not see any other references to 750895, but I may have missed them.
