KG26 (KG506?) casualty 23 June 1942

Hi All,

I am trying to find details on a plane (probably a JU-88A4) that was shot down on the 23rd of June 1942, belonging to KG26, (or KustenKampGeschwader 506 (III./KG506). Would anyone have any info on the Luftwaffe losses of that day?...and of this unit in particular?

Kind Regards,

Chris

Hi Chris,

Had a check through "Achtung Torpedos Los" could not find that name in their loss list in late June. checked Luft QM's returns for 23rd and the next four weeks and could not find Gefreiter Friedrich Weiss. Some of the returns are hard to read though, what is your source could this airman be groundcrew rather than aircrew,

Got it now, on returns dated 14-7-42. All as Matti says crashed and burnt out on Heimat flight. Crew all killed in crash on 7-7-42 :-

B? Ltn. Ludwig Berndt
Ff Fw. Hans Pagels ( Ofw. in Torpedos Los)
Bf Ogef. Friedrich Weiss
Bm Uffz. Werner Stelzmann
Bs Ogef. Anton Stocklasek

Names as spelt in Torpedos Los some are hand written in Luft. Qms returns and are hard to read

Great info all, many thanks!!! Bought his logbook, but couldn't find any info on the crash on the 23rd of June, that being his final entry.

Once again, many thanks!!!

Chris
