Researching Ww11 Fighter Pilot. J K P Nash
 

Dear Researchers. You will probably have seen this research on other web sites, but still need more info on this Fighter Pilot, this is what I know so far (I think).

His name was definatley Kevin P Nash, (as there wasn't a pilot by that name in the war, we think his 1st initial was J) J Kevin P Nash.

His service No was 162095.

He was mentioned in The London Gazette on 25/7/1944, This records the promotion of JKP Nash from Pilot officer to Flying officer, with effect of 18/6/44.

We know that he was sent to Terrel, Texas to learn some flying skills.

After he was demobbed he joined the priesthood and became a Dominican Priest,( and changed his name to Fr Hugh Nash) he taught Maths at Blackfrairs School, Laxton, Corby, Northants, about 1962 he left Blackfrairs & presumably the Priest hood, and went to Cambridge University, where he met a lady called Sue, they fell in love and married and had two daughters, after graduationg they left Cambridge and settled down in South Wales, where Kevin Nash was to become a counsellor at Cardiff University.

Sadly Fr Hugh/Kevin, passed away about 20 years ago, his wife quite recently.

If anyone knows anything about J Kevin P Nash, would they please tell me, as I would like to fill in all the gaps in his life.

You need to search the gazette again for his full correct name:

1603077 John Kenneth Patrick NASH (162095).

But that airman was killed in 1945

A man named Kevin P Nash married a Susanne Sabatella in (Q2) April or May or June 1977 in Barnet District, Middlesex.

Their marriage certificate reference is Vol 11 pg 0234 if you want to order it.

How certain are you that he was a "fighter pilot' and a "spitfire pilot". You state above that there was no pilot by that name in the war, do you have a list of all British pilots during the war?

Thank you for these replies, you ask how we know that he was a Fighter Pilot, well he told one Old Boy from school, that he once crashed a Spitfire at 120mph, & he told another Old Boy, that when he was in one dangerous mission, he said to God, if you let me survive I will become a priest, which he did. We do know that he was a Spitfire pilot that is for sure, but as he didn't like talking about his war he never disclosed any more info, so I'm afraid the two pieces of info are not about Fr Hugh, but thanks all the same. He & Sue got married sometime in the 1960's, I left school in 1960, he left in 1962, so it was sometime after that they got married, but I'm sure it would have been before 1977. I have been informed by the Old Boys from our school, that he had been a Spitfire Pilot, & had also known Matron Ms Marianne Elizabeth Catterall WAAF during the war.
