Peter Goering was shot down by Blenheim gunner but I am not sure if He was Galland's wingie or just in his Stabschwarm. AND the first time Galland was shot down, wasn't his wingie Hegenaur also downed but survived?

Sorry to divert the subject, but I one heard a story that galland was shot down three times in one day?
Sounds like a war story to me but could anyone shed some light on the subject?

Hi, I know that Galland was shot down twice on 21 June 1941 - both times by Spitfires. When he was shot down the first time (as NickM says above) his Rottenflieger was Ofw.Bruno Hegenauer and the latter was also shot down during this mission.

I know of 3 Galland wingmen, none of whom I think were shot down while flying as such - Walter Horten, Bruno Hegenauer & Robert Menge.
