WWII 102 (Ceylon) Sqn - George William Parrett, Wireless Operator
1 Attachment(s)
I was hoping that someone may be able to help me find more information about my late Uncle. He served from Pocklington as a Wireless Operator (having originally qualified as an Air Gunner) on Halifax bombers and completed a full tour.
His full name is George William Parrett. He got his AG Brevet in 1942 and was commissioned in 1944 (according to Issue 36633 of the London Gazette). I attended Sqn reunions with him when he was alive, but he never managed to locate any of his old crew. He demobbed after the war as a Flt Lt. I am interested in any information I can find in order to write up a fitting obituary. Of course, while he was alive I never wrote anything down... :-( Thank you in advance if you are able to help. I presume you have Its Suicide But It's Fun - The Story of 102 (Ceylon) Sqn 1917-56 by forum member Chris Goss?
Crecy Books, 1995 - ISBN 0 947554 59 9 The book provides many personal accounts, aircraft losses and awards given to crew members, which might be a good starting point |
