What happened to Karl Ries photo collection after his death?

I´m very curious about the fate of Mr. Ries photo archive. I remember some photos were being sold on eBay Germany. I even wrote to some book publishers in Germany but got no response. Who owns the rights for the photos now? Any one has an idea about this ??
