Hptm Klaus Ostmann

Does anyone have anything on this pilot? Wounded with 8/StG 1 8 Aug 40, he resumed flying with StG 1 in Aug 41. Promoted to Major in Nov 43, he was shot down at least once more and survived the war

I don't have any other losses for this guy, other than the one you mentioned.

A bit of an enigma. Must have done OK to get promoted to Major but no awards probably mean he did not do anything exceptional

Bit of an old thread.....

I found his signature in flying license.....he signs as "Hauptmann u. Gruppenkommandeur". Hptm. Peter Gaßmann didn't take over until 19.9.1941 and Helmut Mahlke was supposed to be in place unit 18.9.1941, however not sure when Mahlke came out of hospital after being wounded on 8.7.1941. The probable date is 31.8.1941 and FP No. L 33979 - III Gruppe, Sturzkampfgeschwader 1
