Alexander Tait DONKIN, 112 Sqn, KIA 08/02/42
Hi all
I have a query about this pilot, a former pupil of King Edward VI School in Morpeth. He was KIA on February 8th 1942 near Derna, flying Kittyhawk I AK652 GA-D. He is buried at Knightsbridge War Cemetery, Acroma, Libya. I've seen reference to this being a victory claimed by H J Marseille - is there anything to confirm this? Many thanks. Simon |

Simon,
According to Shores & Ring in Fighters Over the Desert 112 Sqn. lost two others besides Donkin in the same combat; namely Sgts. Elwell and Hoare. These three were claimed, one each, by Marseille, Oblt. Gerhard Homuth, and Lt. Friedrich Körner. However it seems unlikely to be possible to say precisely who shot down whom. Regards, Tom |
