B-17G Blitzing Betsy March 6th 1944
 

n May 1995 i had the privilege to meet 3 former crew members of B-17 # 42-37886 Blitzing Betsy 388BG 562 BSQ

From left to right: Nav. 2Lt. Emmett J. Murphy, Pilot 1Lt. Lowell H. Watts and Radio opp. T/Sgt. Ivan N. Finkle
In there hands a small reminder of there B-17.

In my collection i have a photo from the crew, 2Lt. Murphy, front pic of Blitzing Betsy and S/Sgt. Harold A. Brassfield, the tail gunner.

I was wondering if somebody has some more photo's from this crew and plane?

Blitzing Betsy crashed on March 6th 1944 in the area of the small village Zwartemeer, on the same day 3 other B-17's from the 388 BG crashed in nearly the same area.

1: B-17G #42-31135 Suzy Sag Tits, Pilot 1Lt. Montgomery D. Givens 562BSQ (location Dommerskanaal near village of Weiteveen)
2: B-17G #42-31194 Duchess of Dixie, Pilot 1Lt. Clarence A. Gridley 562BSQ (Schoningsdorf just over the border in Germany)
3: B-17G #42-40054 Pilot Capt. Paul E. Brown 562 BSQ (Schoonebekerveld near village of Weiteveen)

Blitzing Betsy collided with Capt's Brown B-17, T/Sgt. John B. Blatz was made POW but died of his wounds on March 18th in Frankfurt, Germany. T/Sgt Blatz is buried in Lorraine - St. Avold cemetery , France (For who's interested i have a photo of his grave)

I'm very interested in the Nickname of Capt's Brown B-17 and in photo's from the crews and related B-17's.
