Re: what was the code letter of 78 squadron Halifax W1067
Hi
Unfortunately the individual aircraft code letter for W1067 is not recorded. The aircraft would have been carrying the 78 Sqn sqn codes of "EY"- The crew were; F/O Wittingham Pilot KIA - buried Hemelumer-Oldeferd Cemetery Sgt Springthorpe Flight Engineer POW P/O Gibson Navigator POW Sgt Donaldson Bomb Aimer POW Sgt Dronfield Wireless Operator MIA remembered on Runneymede Memorial Sgt Brown Rear Gunner POW * * Died in captivity 22/4/45 As part of the "Long March" Reg Brown was resting in a barn when it was tragically strafed by Allied fighters. He was killed instantly and buried by the roadside. His grave is now lost and so he too is remembered on the Runneymede Memorial Hope this is of use ?
