Pilot Officer Vincent Parker Spitfire
Hello Chaps,
On August 15th, 1940 Pilot Officer Parker from No 234 Squadron was shot down, his Spitfire R6985 crashed on English Channel. Do you know the code letter? I saw some pictures of Spitfire AZ-B and many people thinks or say that this is the spitfire of P/O Parker but according another sources this is Spitfire Mk V AA722 (P/O McLeod). Maybe is a coincidence and Vincent Parker flew R6985 AZ-B? Thanks in advance. |
Re: Pilot Officer Vincent Parker Spitfire
Both R6985 and AA722 were coded AZ-B. Squadron code was not unique as RAF serial, it was used for aircraft identification, in this case AZ - code letters of 234 Squadron, while B - individual aircraft within the squadron.
