Before I spend time signing up to the web site - tell me what are the photos of, what type of plane and where?

Quoting from the one responder to the posting on the original website:
Most of the photos appear to depict Martin Marauders (B-26) with two of B-17 Flying Fortresses and one P-51 Mustang.

The first large group of aircraft are Marauders with at least one B-24 Liberator.

The first of the wrecked German aircraft may be a Bf 109 but the rest are Fw 190s.

A good place to start, other than the names, may be the nose art, clearly visible in several shots, since no two aircraft ever carried the same design.

In short, you're looking for a B-26 unit, stationed in Devon (not exactly a hotbed of activity ), 1944-45 and including the nose art examples illustrated.

I'm not sure about the next stage but there could be a couple of USAAF websites that'd help here.

"Devon (not exactly a hotbed of activity)"

Well not these days maybe (I know, I live there!) but my Dad saw all sorts of aviation activity during the war.

These are cross posted on the armyairforces forum, where people took the time to ID some of the men and the aircraft.
