Seeking a photo of a Whitley V
Hi guys,
I have written an article about a relative of mine that served with No. 58 Squadron flying Whitley bombers in 1940. He was killed on 21st October 1940, when his aircraft crashed in the Yorkshire moors. I have written a chapter about him for a book being released next year and I am trying to obtain a photo of a Whitley Mk V to use with it. If anyone has a photo here and would be happy to contribute it I would be sincerely grateful! Best, Chris (legion05@hotmail.co.uk) |
Re: Seeking a photo of a Whitley V
Hi
As the voluntary Sqn Historian, I have multiple images of Whitley Mk V's in the archive. NB: These are in 78 Sqn markings however, but if you require a generic Whitley image I will happily provide them although I accept you will probably really want 58 Sqn Whitley images . . . I am sure someone here may be able to help ? Rgds Tony H 78 Sqn RAF Benson |
Re: Seeking a photo of a Whitley V
Try searching on the internet images for Whitley aircraft with Squadron codes GE that were used by the Sqn in 1940

Re: Seeking a photo of a Whitley V
Thanks chaps! I'm just trying to find one that I can get permission to use without stepping on any toes. I've found a couple of 58 Sqn photos but I can't find the source to obtain permission, Tony, I may well like to see a photo of a Mk V if possible.
Thanks again! Chris |
Re: Seeking a photo of a Whitley V
...if you're still struggling, we have half a dozen 58 Sqn Whitleys in the www.ww2images.com library. If it's for an article then just let the magazine know and they can source them directly from us.
To find them just type '58 sqn' and select 'exact phrase'. MP |
