Talking about Women Military Pilots in WWII I could only think of those Soviet and American female pilots, except a few individuals, I do not know there were any British and German female pilots formally served in the airforce.

I notice that the description states "flew military airplanes in organized units" and not women pilots in combat. My understanding is that women in US and GB were ferry pilots and the like, while women from the Soviet Union were actually in combat. But I might have the wrong understanding.

A single woman of Danish descent flew as ferry pilot in England: Vera Strodl (later Strodl Dowling), who is a member of Canada's Aviation Hall of Fame.

Yes, There were lot of American women served as ferry pilots in the WWII, though I do not recall any large number of GB women served as the similiar role

Do you mean GB had something similiar to WASP in WWII? Could you please provide me a little detail information about this?

The organisation was Air Transport Auxiliary. Several sources (books) available, but for an online source please refer to
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_Transport_Auxiliary

According to this article a total of 166 women pilots served, 15 lost their lives among these Amy Johnson (whose grandfather was born in Denmark).

There were Rumanian women pilots (aviatrixes - is this word still in use?), too, who flew small medevac airplanes (R.W.D. 13S).

Yes, I remember your book mentioned this, but here we are talking about organizing large number of women served in the airforce, for example, in WWII, nearly 1000 American women served in the WASP as ferry pilots.
