Ofw Lilienthal 3(F)/11
Apart from being shot up by 91 Sqn and crash-landing near Calais 24 Mar 41, does anyone have any more info on him? Is is christian name Otto or Gerhard (and if the latter, he had the Ehrenpokal and was later reported missing)?

Sorry but a mistake in Foreman's 1941. It is Gerhard and he was reported missing with 3/11 18 Mar 42

Re: Ofw Lilienthal 3(F)/11
Hello Chris,
Of course it was Otto and he did crash indeed; but it was earlier! :D. Sorry it's just a joke! I think you already know that: "MIA 18 March, 1942 after taking intense ground fire while attacking a Soviet Rifle detachment near the Kerch Peninsula. Remaining Crew: Stfkpt Hptm Elmar Hornung, Observer (MIA) and Uffz Hans Stopf, R/O (POW). Seems they all survived for interrogation, howevr Lilienthal and Hornung were never seen again. Stopf reportedly died in captivity, 14 September, 1942." It's in the Kracker list. Sorry for the interruption, but it was so easy... Cheers, Franck. |
