Spitfire Va, R7295 54 sqn
Hello everyone,
I am seeking information on who flew Spitfire Va, R7295 on 54 sqn at Hornchurch on 11th June, 1941. It took off at 1200hr untill 1210hr in a formation practice to Debden. The name I have, F/Lt HASKER just does not seem to be right. Maybe the name was not copied correctly from the ORB. Any help gratefully received. Thanks, Roy |
Re: Spitfire Va, R7295 54 sqn
Hi Roy,
Could it be F/L Gardner DFC ? Regards, Michal |
Re: Spitfire Va, R7295 54 sqn
Hello Michal,
My information came to me about 20 years ago but it does not look like F/Lt Gardener. My nearest I have come to is F/Lt Alan Stuart Harker DFM of 234 sqn. He was injured just before this date on 19-5-41 as a P/O. He was with 53 OTU as a Flt Commander in August 41, but I am not sure of his rank. The LG does not give his promotion to F/O until 12-4-42. If anyone can help either with the 54 sqn ORB for 11-6-41 or has any other ideas I would be very grateful. Thank you, Roy |
Re: Spitfire Va, R7295 54 sqn
Could that, by any chance, be F/Lt Musker?
Possibly James Herbert Lonsdale, service no. 76900, though I have no idea if he served with 54 Sqn. |
Re: Spitfire Va, R7295 54 sqn
Hello Voy Teck,
Thanks for this name, I have an open mind to all suggestions. I have had a search for F/Lt JHL Musker VR 76900 which would have made him enlisting in 1937. prior to this he owned his own BA Swallow 2, G-ADJN. He was a P/O prb. on 10-12-39 and F/O until 17-12-41 when promoted to F/Lt. He resigned his commission on 11-2-44 on ill health grounds. I have drawn a blank on any of his postings. So again has anyone any ideas who flew R7295 on 54 sqn on 11-6-41 please. Roy |
