HELP NEEDED WITH ARTIFACT

Can any Forum members help identify this bakelite control. Both parts fit together and were found amongst the wreckage of 106 Squadron Lancaster R5574 lost on 21 December 1942.

It has been suggest that it may be part of the aircraft wireless equipment?

Any help or advice will be most welcome.
