Soviet claim description "подбит"

Some soviet victory claims include this word "подбит". What does it mean?

Thanks in advance...

Re: Soviet claim description "подбит"

It means that enemy plane was considerable damaged.

"shot up" - hit bad enough to have some difficulty in piloting or visual signs of damage. By far not necesssary lethal. Usually needed further confirmation to be transferred into "shot down" state to be listed on someones account.

OK, I see. So such claims should not be counted as a real claim.

Hi, Joerg,

This is when plane was reportedly damaged, not destroyed. The most amazing of this is that while matching with GQ loss records some of the "damaged" claims appear to be real confirmed victories.

Yes, some victories which have given title - shot down /destroyed, later such planes often returned to own base, and fly again.
Some planes claimed as a damaged/podbit - in fact had crashed and were total destroyed. Each side had many such cases, not only Soviet.

This is not simple, :-( ,
only maching fights on both sides you may find the answer, it is very interesting indeed, and many facts would surface in different lights.

Nikita, you mean a validation of soviet "damaged" claim versus german "GQM-loss-report"?

In future I will not count such "podbit"-reoports as claim, as there is so much overclaiming anyway in the Iasi battles (which I am still analyzing, amongst others with your help :))
