Helsinki Malmi airfield random pics

Hi guys,
Just wanted to share few pics which were taken during WW2 at Helsinki Malmi airfield.
Some taken by unknown and some by my grandfather who was a field master over there at that time.

Excellent quality unpublished photographs that would make a very nice addition to quite a few libraries were it available. And a big, "Yes", you should print.

I wonder wform which period these photos come from?
I think that some were made in summer 1941 (like German Ju 88 or Do 17 Z) but other ones?
Have you any information about this?

Unfortunately I do not know exact dates, exept two:

Picture 29 Focke Wulf Fw200 Condor

KE+IX is same plane which Hitler used when he visted Finland to
celebrate Mannerheim´s 75th birthday.
Mannerheim also used this same plane during his visit to Germany, later on the same year.
FMP - 4.6.1942

Video where Mannerheim returns, KE+IX is clearly seen on background.
Video: Väsynyt Mannerheim saapuu vierailulta Hitlerin luota ? Suomenkuvalehti.fi

So it´s most likely taken 27.6.1942

Picture 7 If this is crash of Heribert Koller it is taken 18.6.1944

Rest of pics mainly during the war so most likely 1939-1944.

Hello!

I would say majority of the "German" photos are from June-July 1941 from the time when KGr 806 with Ju 88s was there.

On picture 13 background it might me one of the three KGr 506 Ju 88 planes attached to KGr 806.

Picture 14 is German aerial mine? Experts surely can give the type.

Finnish fighters without yellow nose but with yellow ring on fuselage and underside wing tips are from period June-September 1941.

Picture 7 I would say is more likely from July 3th, 1941. The smoke column comes from Malmi town/railway station (direction, at least). On the day at 14.00 o'clock Finnish time two Soviet I-153 strafed the airfield and the hills around plus Malmi town. At Malmi town a chemical factory was set ablaze and burned to ground. Source for this is war diary of Malmi tower or personal diary of a air traffic controller. IIRC held at Helsinki city archive? I have only copies received from a friend.

Personally I am most interested about this photo:

Is this Me 110 +KP one which took part on the Beowulf operation? That was operation to take the Estonian islands September-October 1941. BTW what was II/ZG 26 unit code at the time?

All in all very interesting selection of great photos. Kiitos.

Cheers,
Kari

Looking at the picture, I have such feeling, that quite many of them were done on summer 1941. Some markings on German planes fit, for me, to my theory, but of course this is only speculation.

FW 200, I think too, it was done during Hitler visit in Finland too.
