Looking for info on B-24 pilot, 456 BG

I'm trying to track down any info on a servicemember

1LT John A. Bissell. Believe he was flying a B-24 in the 456th BG of the 15th AF (1943-45 probably). He was reportedly awarded a DFC and an Air Medal w/OLC. Family history was his aircraft was shot down at one point but he survived the crash and war. Any info, particularly on his crew or aircraft would be greatly appreciated by the family.
