Information Concerning Loss of Nachtjager Josef Wolf - 21.12.1943

Apparently, they shot a "heavy" causing the bomb load to explode and take out the Ju-88.
http://www.aircrewremembrancesociety...5/Eckhoff.html ...says it was a Lancaster at 6800m, while Tony Woods claims indicate that it was a Halifax at 5500 m. |

NCA has the plane as Halifax JD115 of 158 Sqn blowing up. It has Wolf "...had jettisoned the hatch and pulled the ripcord of the parachute as he got out. It was his misfortune that the parachute flew back over the vertical stabilizer, and he was caught beneath it. He went down with the machine."
