The log book of Lt. Friedel (Friedrich?) Keller is offered in ebay, see

Scroll down the photos and see onwards from mission no. 122 (among some other strange inscriptions) that he claims 17 "confirmed" victories.

These inscriptions were obviously made by himself and post war. As I can not find any other records of this Lieutenant "Friedel" Keller, I ask if you have better sources which could prove his claims.

The claims are very dubious, and the notes show claims for Nowi and Otto when they did not make any. There is one claim for him in the microfilms on the day he was shot down 11 Oct 43. The 6 claims for when he was at Vaerlose Gunnery School, all flying with Bruno Stolle are totally fictitious, I think. Its a shame as the rest of the six volumes when Keler was instructing look to be quite good.

Thanks to ClinA-78 and Russell - this was what I thought too.

To fake his own log book is a shame for all honest fighter pilots. Maybe we found another Gottfried?

1. I have an odd feeling about this one too. The last parts sems to have been written with a ballpoint pen. I don’t know how common these were during WW 2 in Germany? Most other flugbucher seem to have been written with a fountain pen.

Funny, I had the same impression about the ball-point writing, too. Since the ball-point pens entered the market outside South America in 1945, they were very probably not used in Germany throughout WW2 which indicates that the log book was faked up after war by someone..

It seems that some "Holy" docs of WW2 hv been written with ball-pens
