Hptm. Hans Eder in Italy
Hello!
Unfortunately I don't yet have a big library including loss lists. Therefore this question. I seek information on a Hptm. Hans Eder, who fell january 13. 1943 in aerial combat in Italy. He was decorated with the Spanish Cross in silver, EK 2 and other decorations. He was a fighter pilot and a leader of a JG, Gruppe or Staffel??? I cannot find him in my Condor Legion books or in my JG material. Help and thank You in advance. Christian |
Re: Hptm. Hans Eder in Italy
Eder was the Adjudant of I./JG 4 and was KIA in Jan. 44.

Re: Hptm. Hans Eder in Italy
Hello,
Hptm. Eder was killed on 13th January 1944 in the cockpit of Bf 109G-6 WNr. 410544 (?) during a combat flight. Location given as 10,5 km east of Rome, Via Gasilina. He was Gruppenadjutant of I./JG 4. Source: Sturmjäger, volume 1, by Eric Mombeek (page 102). I hope this helps a little, Ota |
Re: Hptm. Hans Eder in Italy
Just a small correction: it's Via Casilina, with a "C" (original German sources are not too reliable with spelling Italian place names!)
It was one of the principal roads into ancient Rome and the name stuck for a few more centuries. |
