New photo of 4.(S)/LG2 a/c of Ofw. Josef Harmeling down 29.10.40
Hello,
This Bf109E, "White N" force-landed at Langenhoe near Wick, Essex, England, and according to Peter Cornwell: "was widely displayed across northern England and southern Scotland in support of several local 'War Weapons Weeks' and visited many towns including Glasgow and Paisley during late November 1940 and Dundee as late as February 1941. It could be any of them." The buildings in the background indicate that this was in some major city, perhaps Glasgow or Dundee. Can anyone identify the location of where this was taken? The buildings in the background probably still exit. Does anyone know of any photos of the port side of this aircraft, or know of any photos taken of this one at the actual crash site? We have a number of them taken while it was on tour, but almost all show only the starboard side. What else might be out there? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...fvi%3D1&_rdc=1 Thanx, |

This photo was in the late Michael Payne collection (which I now have as you know) so is not new as far as I am aware. There are as you say a number of photos but I have never seen one at the crash site
