Ring-Girbig`s JG 27 book... is it any good?

I am thinking about buying this book, how good it is ? What sort of info it does have? 350 pages looks good...

Any reviews/recommendations ? Is it worth it?

I can recommend this book. It contains the history of JG 27 from a German POV and is quite detailed. Most of the information in the book appears to be absolutely correct.

If you want more statistics on JG 27's victories and aircraft losses, Prien's volumes on JG 27 are more detailed - but also more expensive.

Thanks ! What can expect then... day-by-day desription of operations, pilot accounts? I mean the profile of the book...

How about the statisctical part? No at all, or just a few? I am also interested in 1945 operation, how well are these covered?

Thx in advance !

Hello Kurfürst

he is some basic info, in the book there isn’t much on 1945. Die Letzten Hundert Tage pp 305-313

And some appendices

Die Luftsiege der Flugzeugführer drs JG 27 pp 321-333

Stellenbesetzung JG 27 pp. 334-339

VERLUSTE DES JG 27 pp. 339-362 (date, rank, name, staffel, KIA/MIA/WIA/POW, Front, date when returned, if returned, to JG 27

VERMISSTE DES JG 27 AUS DER BILDLISTE DES ROTEN KREUZES p. 363

VERLUSTE DER 1. WÜSTENNOTSTAFFEL IN AFRIKA p. 363

VERLUSTE BODENPERSONAL pp. 363-367

I’m little bit busy right now, so I must stop now.

Thanks, this helps a lot. I am looking for the book as jg27 was one the major 109K users, and were stationed on the WF in 1945 along JG 53, so guess it may give me clues about 109K operations. But, appearantly only 8 pages on that...

Perhaps I should look up Six months to oblivion from Gebirg instead?

Just curious: what are you looking for that is not in Dr. Prien's 3 volumes on JG 27?
