Norwich Baedeker raid Luftwaffe casualties
Hi all,
On 29-30 April 1942, a Do 217E-4 from Stab/KG.2 returned from an attack on Norwich with damage and two crewmen, Uffz Alfred Kawulek (Bm) and Uffz Hermann Schiffer (Bf) dead. Can you tell me where they are buried, please ? Also, on 8-9 May 1942, Do 217E-4 U5 + CT Werk-Nr.5367 of 9/KG.2 failed to return from Norwich and is assumed to have come down in the sea. The body of Fw Adolf Feeser (Bm) was washed ashore (in Holland ?) and Uffz Paul Rieger was later reported dead. Again, I'd be interested to know where they were/are buried. I'd also be interested to know if there were any RAF intruder claims which might tally with the loss of the latter aircraft. Many TIA for any assistance rendered. BC |
Re: Norwich Baedeker raid Luftwaffe casualties
Hi Bob,
The VDK have Schiffer listed at Ysselsteyn, Block CW, Row 5, Grave 119, but no listing for Kawulek, if his body was buried privately by his family he would not show on the VDK Grave Search. Regards Joe |
