Re: RAF pilots wristwatch/chronograph

Hi Matt
The fact that a watch was issued to an Aircrew member should be recorded on his Clothing and equipment file to be returned to the RAF when he left or became a casualty.Whether a watch would have a serial number is less certain, as they were of many makes, and whether it could be used to identify an individual is problematic as many individuals wore their own watches perhaps given by their families. As the records were personal I doubt if they would be available to the public in the UK, and they might have been destroyed at the end of the war as Aircrew were released back into Civilian life
Regards
Dick
