Fosserway = Fosse Way

And there is a village on Fosse Way called Ashley in Gloucestershire

Don't know about Marel Wood though

Hello Paul.

Thank you for the infos.

In my document 9132 represent a part of Great britain where the crash was, as a county, district or Borough. I am sorry my English is bad, is it possible that is a post code ??

Thank you

Hi Many

Just a suggestion, but is the info you have hand-written? If it is, and the handwriting is poor, perhaps '9132' could be 'Glos', which is the abbreviation for Gloucestershire? It's a bit of a leap, but maybe, just maybe...

Ashley is about 2 km south west of RAF Kemble:

If you click on the 'London Street Map' menu, and then click on 'Ordnance Survey Map', it will give you a much more detailed map of the area, including the names of all the small bits of woodland and the farm names.

Regards

Simon

Re: Infos about a French Pilot

It's possible that he was killed on Oxford NM285 of 15 (P)AFU. Crashed on overshoot ½ mile N of RAF Long Newnton (flaps raised prematurely on night overshoot and hit trees). His matricule was 36179, and do believe that he initially was buried in Bath (Haycombe) Cemetery, Englishcombe, Somerset. Could this match with the crashlocation ?
I'm also looking for his rank and his present burial location in France.
Regards,
Henk.

Glad to hear Many that it's the man you're looking for. Do you know what his rank was (Sergeant ?) and where he is buried at the moment. His name is NOT on my list of French airmen who remained buried in the UK.
Regards,
Henk.

Re: Infos about a French Pilot

Hello Henk.

I have only what I have written at the beginning of the thread.

I have just learned yesterday, as he was freemason, he was imprisoned in France by Germans and he ran away in GB in september 43. That all;

I have nothing about his rank.

Thank you again for your help.
