Photos 2-4 appear in Mombeek's 2nd volume on JG 5, pg 296.

It's in the book yes; But is it JG 5? JG 52 or JG 3 maybe, but JG 5???... Any particular & specific caption? Franck. |

Peter Rodeike has identified similarly marked Fw 190s as belonging to IV./JG 5 (pg 101). He guesses that they may have been passed on from JGr. Trondheim. The caption from Mombeek does not mention a specific unit...
"Fighters Over Russia" by Manfred Griehl (Luftwaffe at War series vol 1, pg 50) shows a similar Fw 190 in a repair hangar. The various machines in the hangar have the over-sized numerals typical of JG 5. Don |
