21/02 - Bf109s on eBay

Hi,

we continue with that JG101 photoalbum. Talking about Knoke; here he is. One F-4/Z WNr.7282 flown by von Maltzahn which (the plane) is cited in the Kracker list having been lost while flown by Dr. Fw. Felix Sauer (??)... and some others!

Hi,

Picture #12/
Interesting: with a little bit of luck we could have the White 12 of Lt. Georg Schirmböck, 4./JG 77, who crashed while landing on Fl.Pl. Trondheim-Vaernes on 23/4/1940 Bruch 70%. Place, Nbr., time & damage all four points seem to match... Any WNr. available??

Regards, Franck.

It's the a/c from Schirmböck ... in JVF 3,p.17, is published an pic from the other side but unfortunately not mentioned an W.Nr.

Best regards
Rasmussen

Hello,

Thank you Rasmussen for confirmation.

@All;
Yesterday, when starting this thread I did put one little comment about that Bf109F-4/Z WNr.7282.
It happens that both pilots, von Maltzahn and Sauer, are said, in the Kracker list, to have lost that plane over Malta (in the see off Malta) the first on 11/5/1942 the second on 16/5/1942... Any correction? Thanks for the help.

Regards, Franck.

With this details of the victory bars (enlarged scan) it must be possible to make an identification of the pilot. Did you have check the kill lists in the Prien publications, Franck? 16 kills on the west front. The last 3 also west allied enemies, possible at north Africa.

Hello David,

Ô... I'm sure it's von Maltzahn plane since I have others showing the same tailplane;
I's just surprised, when checking 7282 in "my lost list" that this number appears with both pilots. When checking the Kracker list I discovered where I got these informations... So my question is where did they get this info for Sauer?

... I have no Prien publication David, you know that.

Thanks, Franck.
