2/03 - Bf 109s on eBay

Hello,

1. http://cgi.ebay.de/orig-Foto-Dia-Me-...item4aa91f4c53
must make an horizontal symetry! it seems there is an emblem between first man legs. Note size of fuselage cross and wing leading edge camouflage.
2. http://cgi.ebay.de/Foto-Jagd-Flieger...item43a51dfa64
"19" not "9".
3. http://cgi.ebay.de/Foto-Jagd-Flugzeu...item35afe6982d
4. http://cgi.ebay.de/Foto-Negativ-Flug...item2561b966e6
"Prost"!
5. http://cgi.ebay.de/Foto-Negativ-Flug...item2561b966fa
note short antenna mast and overpainted StKz.
6. http://cgi.ebay.de/Foto-Negativ-Flug...item2561b9671a
Last StKz must be an "A". Note antenna positionning on fuselage...

be free to comment ... without breaks :p.

#1

... Hmmmm... Looks pretty much like the 1./JG 2, "Weisse 3" we've seen yesterday or the day before... Still looking for another solution...

Maybe because the cowling is up you can't see 'bonzo' :) The camouflage is right and so is the early cross and it's I Gruppe. The only thing that isn't is the grass, on other photos the foliage looks rougher, more coarse. I thought maybe White 5, grass looks a better match but the tip of the prop is not bent and the swastikas in the wrong position....

Good morning Chris,

Precisely Chris, the wing leading edge camo, with underside blue coming up - and Cross size - heigth & length, not width - are very helpful to check JG 2 planes avoiding boring research; how did you call that once "Idiosyncratic"?... ;). Sometimes it works pretty much.

Concerning the ground, I don't agree with you; I pretend it's the same with those flowers/blossom. There is, too, a slight ground slope which is not on white 5 picture, and propeller blade tip combined with a small angle from the vertical. Last (?) the starboard canon is located in a dark painted rectangle...

But you're right, that's the only possible candidate I've found together with White 3.

... It's going to be breakfast time for the kids so I'm not going back now on White 5 picture; I wrote this post using memory... "See" you later chap!

Regards, Franck.

Second photo

I think this is Widowitz on the left. The aircraft in the background is red 19 of 14./JG77 (not JG5). I think 14.(J)/JG5 only flew with the Fw190.

I am sure on the pilot and unit though.

Hello Mark,

Because of the dog? Could be;
but the plane behind is a Bf109F-4, Gelbe 19 of 9./JG 5 flown by Lt. August-Richard Luy. Petsamo, Winter 1942-1943.

Regards, Franck.

And there we go, Franck and Unikum:

This machine is the well known Bf 109 G-14/AS W.Nr.786 316 "Weisse 4", captured at Kassel in 1945. This is a Messerschmitt built machine, as identified by the last four W.Nr. digits repeated on the reart fuselage. Three pictures of this machine were published by Robert Forsyth, Jagdwaffe Vol 5 Section 3: Defending the Reich 1944-45 (Luftwaffe Colours), Classics, 2005, p. 277.

Thanks for keeping up your daily scanning for some fresh 109's, Franck. It is highly appreciated.

Cheers
Marc

Hi guys,

Just have to ask for and you get it! Thanks Marc.

One comment: One did ask once "what's that quarter of moon "emblem" on rudder" ?
... 1/ this is not the only one plane to show this.
... 2/ Most probably - for me it's 100% sure - this is created by the device used to block the rudder when park: First you have to put (through the fence) and turn it in place to close it and secure the rudder tightly.

Regards, Franck.
