Stab & II./JG 26 - Morgny
 

Hi there,

Both unit stood in Morgny from 13/6 to 17/6/1940 as announced in Michael Holm site and confirmed (or the contrary) in Die JFV Teil 3, Prien.

But what about Bezue la Foret ???
Bezue la Foret doesn't exist. Bezues yes in south western France but nothing to do with these units at that time.
Bézu-la-Forêt does exist too in the same aera, 4,6 NE of Morgny.

Question: Two airfields? or only one situated at Bézu-la-Forêt???

Hello!

I think it was the same one: MH mentions "Morgny Bezu la Forêt", and we are talking 35-36 aircraft, for 4 days; there would be no need to have two adjacent airfields like it was the often case later in the very fighter-crowded Calais area during BoB...
The airfield was probably situated between the two hamlets of Le Vauroux and Maurepas, SW of Bezu la Forêt. At the time this area was bordered N and S by orchards which were usually put to good use by the Germans to disperse their aircraft...
