6/03 - Bf109s on eBay

Hi,

Not a lot this morning...
1. http://cgi.ebay.de/Orig-Foto-Flugzeu...item3f07e989e3
II./JG 54
2. http://cgi.ebay.de/149-abgeschossene...item27b943dd4d
3. http://cgi.ebay.de/Foto-Flugzeug-ME1...item20b7a5df71
4. http://cgi.ebay.de/Orig-Foto-Flugzeu...item3f07eb6ae6
It's indicated Oberfeld Baraun, why not? My feeling was Knoke and still is.. Interesting to note the Morane antenna under the fuselage which turn this plane to be a G-6y.
5. http://cgi.ebay.de/110-O-Foto-Flugze...item1e62092253
Setz' Weisse 1.

Cheers, Franck.

Franck:

I'm pretty sure this is not Knoke. The face is not his and this guy is too tall. Knoke was a very small man.

Hi John,

Interesting!
I did compare with a picture which is in Falcon site. Same guy, same plane, same background etc. The angle of sight is slightly different and the guy is sat on wheel (Hiding the Morane mast).
Infortunately can't give the link (Privat) hence my description.

But you can find it in "The Luftwaffe in camera 1942-1945 by Alfred Price". I Guess David took it for sure. As I did...:(.

But looking at "Lilo" pictures I have he looks like the same.. (See Knoke dedicated site)

or this picture:

What do you think?

Cheers, Franck.

Hi all,
I'm almost sure that the pilot is Leo Lothar Barann, another member of 5/JG11 cited by Knoke.
In fact, Knoke is in another photo in front of that same G-6, that could be black 5 or 7, if I see well the only visible part of the number.
Cheers

Miguel:

I agree with you. It is likely one of those photos where everyone stood in front of the same aircraft and had their photos made. A keepsake/send to the family shot.
It would be interesting to know when the photo was taken and when Knoke was made StaffelF., flying sw. 1. The "gunboats" under the wings indicate a later date, so several a/c had them. Knoke mentions having the "directional" device--aka Morane mast, but I forget the date.
Knoke was not much taller than 5'-2/3". Also, the guy in the photo has a much longer face, nose, etc. He is definitely taller. See Knoke's photo with 'his 5th" and he is, by far, the shortest.

OK OK OK Guys...
There is a "guess " concerning the date too. Falcon notes in his site that could be in Spring 1944 or Summer 1943; depends of the caption! Wünsdorf?
I agree with Schwarze 7 or 5.

Tschüss, Franck.

Ah yes! It's written Wunstorf... And I'm selling nothing; this is the most important point to consider.
