Losses on 13/08/1940

Hi guys, is there an official figure for the Luftwaffe and RAF aircraft losses on this day? I seem to be finding figues like 45 - Luftwaffe & 13 - RAF, or 47, 50 etc... so I was wondering if anyone knows the official figure?

Best,

Chris

Chris - 8/13/40
A Time for Courage by John Terraine Page 186.
RAF Fighter Command actual Losses were 15 -
Luftwaffe Losses 39 - A high percentage of these losses were JU 87s.

I have always thought that to be honest RAF figures should include bomber and coastal command losses. For example on this date a Blenheim squadron was wiped out during a raid on Denmark.

Laurent -
I would have Posted ALL Losses if I could , but this was all the Book had for
that day. I meant no Disrespect - All the Boys that Flew in Bomber Command
are Heroes. It is a Crying Shame that there is no Monument for Bomber Command.
Cheers,
Mike

Hi Mike,

No criticism intended on my part, your reply was the usual one for this matter and I guess the one wanted by the original poster.

Information about RAF losses outside Fighter Command are available (in Chorley and Ross McNeill books, or in the book 'The other few'), but a book listing all losses/operations (both offensive and defensive) for both sides is not existing AFAIK.

By the way I'm away from home or I will have provided the figures.

Best regards

Laurent

If its of interest the Bomber Command Diaries list 66 aircraft lost on day missions and 180 on night missions between 26th June and 12/13th October. The losses were from all causes and averaged 2.3 percent

Considering the situation I was expecting the daylight losses to be higher. The 12 losses on the 13 August were a high proportion of the overall day losses.
