21 February 1944 victories
 

Hi to all,

I would like to know more about 3 (probable US) victories on February the 21st, 1944. That day 3 Messerschmitts Bf-109 G(-6/5) aircraft crashed in the IJsselmeer/Zuiderzee. I did found out that capt. William 'O Brien from 357th Fighter Group shot down an Me-109 over the IJsselmeer/ Zuiderzee on this day, while flying in his P-51.

The Messerschmitts were the ones flown by Fhj. Fw. Erich Mattern (KIA), Uffz. Helmut Sainisch (KIA) and Fw. Fritz Haspel (WIA). It seems that archives mention Mattern shot down by a P-47 Thunderbolt, but is there anything known about these crashes and what allied pilots claimed these planes as their victories?
