RAF Malta 272 Squadron Orbs Nov 1942 to May 1943 link

Hello, here for download in .pdf format are the ORB's of Malta 272 Beaufighter squadron from late November 1942 to May 1943. These are interspersed chronologically with scans from my great uncle Frederick A Duquette's original flight book.

Please feel free to download the information from the link below. Please note I would also be very interested in corresponding with other family/researchers regarding 272 squadron and related persons to his career there from Jan-May 1943 (He crashed off Malta on May 8th, 1943) as I have mentioned in some other posts on this and other newsgroups.

In particular looking for info on pilot's AJC PROCTOR his navigator A MCINNES, GBS COLEMAN, Navigator LESLIE LYNE-HALE and others.

Regards, Theramin

Hi Theramin,

Good of you to make this information available to everybody. This may not be of direct assistance, however, during GBS Coleman's later posting to 600 Sqn RAuxAF he had an Australian navigator named Neville R. Frumar (Aus.420814). The Australian War Memorial has Frumar’s diaries and logbooks that could offer some insight into Coleman the pilot, albeit, later in the war.

Theramin,

Many thanks...
Personally I do have a great interest on the Beaufighters Squadrons and would like to read, in a near futur, a concise book about 272 Squadron's activities...( if you are on that "road", please inform us when a "paper" or book will be available. I am sure a lot of people would like to read a 272 Squadron's History as well ).
Very kind of yours to share the ORB, anyway. I am sure you are very proud of your " Grand Oncle activités"...
Salut.
Adriano Baumgartner

Re: RAF Malta 272 Squadron

Dear Sir
I am the nephew of Peter Charles Cobley who flew with 272 sqn in Malta. He survived the siege and left in Sept '43 when he was moved to 613 sqn for a secret operation planned to carry out a strategic bombing of The Kunstzaal Kleizkamp art gallery in the Hague building, in Holland. Many weeks of training were required to insure the accuracy of this attack. The Gestapo had brought together all of the identity papers of the Dutch citizens and were using this information to isolate resistance members. Their job was was destroy the building.

I have some information and a couple of pics from Malta but would love to gain any further one.

Sadly Peter was killed in Burma shortly after the war under very suspicious circumstances on the air field in Rangoon.

Regards
Ian Cobley
