ID of Propeller from crash site

Hello everyone,

does anyone out there recognize the following serial number which is associated with a propeller from a crash site:

Type 4/3 F. 4.300-2 F. 4.301-2

Also, a circular plate with the following on it:

Climb M.K. I B N° 7455-58 K.D.G. Thousands of ETMIM

Any help greatly appreciated.

Regards.

Hi,

I believe it would help if you could provide more information: size of the prop, number of blades, material (wood or aluminium ?) etc...

Or a picture of the prop itself ?

All the best

Two different bits of kit.

The circular plate is from a Mk Ib climb and descent instrument mounted on the pilots blind flying panel.

Manufacturer is K.D.G (eg KDG Mobrey) and it displays either 0 to 2,000 feet per minute or 0 to 4,000 feet per minute depending on version.

Thanks Guys,

I'm afraid that I can't provide any pictures or further information as I'm working from a contemporary document dated 1942 which describes wreckage from a crash site that had been cleared a year before. The goal is to try to identify the type of aircraft involved from this minimal information. A long shot I know, but it's all I have at the moment.

Thanks for the replies so far, anyone else got any ideas?

Regards.

Re: ID of Propeller from crash site

Hello Again,

I'm no expert on propellers, but don't the blades usually each have a seperate serial number? I'm just thinking that perhaps the serial number sequence could mean: Type 4 propeller, 3 bladed, blade 1: F 4.300-2, blade 2: F 4.301-2, blade 3: ??

With regard to piece from the blind flying panel, does anyone have a picture of the panel showing it? and would this have been specific to one type of aircraft?

Thanks Again.

If it helps to narrow things down for the 'propeller experts' out there I think the prop was a 3 bladed Hamilton Standard item.

Regards.
