Strange features on an Erla Haube...

Can someone explain this?

This first photo shows a standard Erla Haube and the complete inner frame. This is the normal way an Erla Haube opens. I have not seen it any other way.

This photo, (G-6 Trop) however, shows some sort of a strange conversion...with the rear part of the frame still attached (looks permanently) to the cockpit...has anyone ever seen this before? You can see the Antenna was originally mounted on the Erla directly, but moved back (typical)...you can even still see the remains of the original mount.

On the Regular Erla Haube, the glass is sandwiched between the inner tubular frame, and then steel outer frame...yet in this pic the plexi seems pretty secure...

TIA!

Re: Strange features on an Erla Haube...

The first foto is the production Erla Haube and the second is the replacement version design to be fitted to aircraft that had originally been manufactured with the two-sectioned Haube. The replacement version was designed to work with the two-sectioned Haube's jettison system which is different from that used on the production version.
