JU88 A-4 Question
Did the JU88A-4 have bucket seats for the crew?
If yes, were they all issued with the seat type parachute? |
Re: JU88 A-4 crew positions
The positions for the Beobachter and the Bordschütze/Bordmechaniker IIRC were both folding seats. I looked for photos showing an A-4 crew in flight gear and could not find one with parachutes being worn.

Re: JU88 A-4 Question
Thanks for the response.
Do you think the crew or some of the crew would have worn the Seat Type parachute ? Could each crew man wear whatever type he wanted, or were they specified for each aircraft type and crewmans position. |
Re: JU88 A-4 Question
Found a picture at last showing an early type JU88 crew preparing for a flight and one of the crew is definately wearing a seat type parachute.
It is in the Blitz Then and Now, just inside the main hard cover. Can any of you who own this book tell me what rank this chap is in the Seat Parachute, also is it possible to tell his crew position by what he has on ( other than the parachute ? I ask as i now own a log book taken from a downed JU88 in the Battle of Britain. It is from a seat type parachute and i am trying to work out who exactly in the crew it came from. Thanks Jon |
