When was the British fin flash first added to RAF a/c early in WW II?

Hello,

Working with some Fairey Battle photos, I note that some photos show them with no RAF fin flash that was carried by early in WWII. When exactly was the reg for this issued, and planes began appearing with fin flashes?

Thanx,

I believe it was the 1st May, or very close to it. They were in place by the start of the Battle of France on the 10th.
