Ju 88 crash, February 21, 1941

Some timr ago I wrote to the town of Noordwijkerhout about the crashe of a halifax on October 2/3, 1942. In rerrore they sen me a copy of a report about a crash of an airplane on February 21, 1941. Perhaps the members of this board can link this one to a know loss? It looks like it is a Ju 88, bomber.

On February 21, 1941, at 05.15 two aircraft were flying from north-east to south-west. On the leading one a red light was seen, on the second a green one . After both aircraft had passed the village is sounded as if the engine(s) of the plane with the green light were not funcytioning properly. The sound turend into a whistle after wich the engine(s) stopped. Then a howling sound was heared followed by a thud. The plane had crashed near the farm of the Heemskerk family, Zeestraat 50, Noordwijkerhout. The family of monther, father and nine children were safe. Their barn and haystack burned down and the farmhouse was damaged by parts fron the wreck. Windows and doors were damaged as was some of the furniture.

Doctors from the nearby St. Bavo, institute for the mentaly insane, collected the many bodyparts in the mortuarium of the institute. They were take away by German officers in 4 coffins.

During the removal of the wreck a German soldier told that the aircraft was a Ju 88 and that it had a crew of four. Several 500kg bombs were found in and around the wreck.
