insignia question?
Which WWII or pre-war airforce used as an insignia that was a Teutonic cross? I think the color was red. Was it Lithuania?

Re: insignia question?
Portugal have an red cross, but it is not a real Teutonic style.

I ask because a family member has asked me to examine some swords passed down and one of them is a mystery as it has a Teutonic Cross on it. Is there a good sword ID forum on the web? THX |
Re: insignia question?
I think the Lithuanian marking was a Cross of Lorraine, with equal length arms. Not red, though.

Re: insignia question?
Absolutely not Teutonic.
Portugal used the cross of the Military Order of Christ (previously the Royal Order of the Knights of Our Lord Jesus Christ – Real Ordem dos Cavaleiros de Nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo). Rather a Templar cross. |

The red cross is still in use by the portuguese air force... Can see it clearly at this link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/zekatreka/2653293300/ Best regards Carlos Guerreiro |
