Uffz Werner Hoffmann 5./JG26 - shot down or accident on April 9th 1945

Actual I am researching the fate of Uffz Werner Hoffmann. Following the information of Axel Urbanke ("Mit Fw 190 D-9 im Einsatz") he was in service with 5./JG26. He died on April 9th 1945 in Heist near Uetersen an his Dora was destroyed (100%). The reason is not known.
Since Uetersen is my hometown I came across some eyewitness of this casualty:
They confirmed he was flying (in sight of the Uetersen airfiled) on low altitude, hit some trees, crashed on a field and then the burning Fw190 hit a farm house. The remains of Uffz Hoffmann were found later in the roof of the farmhouse. The circumstances are even more dramatic than to be told in a few words.
He was buried in Uetersen and his grave can still be found there.

The question is: Was it just a simple flying accident ? Are there any hints for a shot down. Maybe his Dora was damaged before by allied fighters?

Any further infos about Uffz Werner Hoffman welcome. Does anybody has a foto of him or further details about his carreer?
